A good turn out of 18 for this match with the top 5 weights running close.

Cooky came out overall winner with 27-13 which included a decent double figure fish towards the end of the match. Well done Jon, still showing them how its done at 70 yrs old !!

Gerry caught small carp steadily throughout for second place with 25-12. Catch of the day must go to Andy G with a great mixed bag of silvers & a few carp all taken on bread.

Update to venue sheet- Spring League 2012

There is a change of venue for the last spring league match on 13th May.
It was due to be at Hawford lakes, but when contacted they had no record of our booking so i have booked Woodland View, Big & Little Owl Pools.
Ideally we were trying to get venues that involved a bit less travelling this year but this is no further than you would have gone for Hawford. We generally have a good day at Woodland View and i am told all the lakes there are undergoing of a bit of re-stocking.

Very cold conditions, with ice on the lake all day which proved troublesome for a few of us. Only odd fish were caught early on before a bit on sun warmed things up enough for them to have a munch in the final couple of hours. Roy Pritchards swim improved as the match wore on and he took a good bag of fish weighing 31-11 for first place.
My own swim also improved in the second half of the match and i took around 12 carp for 28-14 and second place. Tim had a nice mixed bag of fish including a stray chub for 20-11 and 3rd spot

2011 Christmas Match. Tunnel Hill, Sunday 4th December

22 Members turned up for this years Christmas match at Tunnel Hill. Even Gunsty turned up early which gave me enough time to get a group photo as a new header for the blog.

Most of us found it slow going but everyone weighed in and a fortunate few made good use of decent draws. Well done to Alan Wilson who put a steady stream of carp together to take first place, along with the biggest fish of 7.10.

Well done and thank you to Gerry who got a good mixed spread of prizes to ensure nobody went home empty handed.

Breakingstone Angling Club

A very quick update about the origins of Breakingstone Angling Club for a very new Blog that Nick Hancock has very kindly set up. For some reason he has given me “Administrative Rights”, which I am sure he will come to regret, but here goes.

Breakingstone Angling Club was founded during a very informal meeting at Dowty Ashchurch Clubhouse on 23^rd February 1993. To be honest I have had some fun just reading through the very first AGM that we held on 12^th March 1993 when we gave the Club the name and decided on some of the rules that we still have on our venue sheet to this day. You would be surprised at some of the names that were present at that meeting, I am sure that some of you will know the majority of them:-

Paul Kelly, Mike Teakle, Mike Willis Snr., Mark Smallman, Tim Gibbs, Simon Gibbs, Steve Griffiths, Chris Martin, Peter Gunston and Robert Turley, plus a few that you more mature gents might remember, like, Dave Cotton-Bettridge, Colin Summers, Cliff Mason, Barry Kirton (better know as Mr Tewkesbury) Jim Cross and Mac (real name Ian McAllen). I hope that those names have put a smile on some of your faces and raised fond memories. It just goes to show that Breakingstone Angling Club has a strong core of members, with some still fishing with us and some, that although still fishing, have decided not to fish with us anymore.

Now, 19 AGM’s later, some of the people on the Committee are still the same, some of the rules are still the same, but, I think it’s fair to say, we have come a long way as a club. At the moment we have money in the bank, but, unfortunately no water of our own to spend it on. The Committee did discuss only fishing matches at ‘Commercials’ quite a few years ago and decided against it, but, unfortunately this has now been forced upon us until we can find another venue to call home!!

End of the trip down memory lane and back to reality, I hope that you guys will keep checking this blog and will find it useful.

Ok, here is the first draft of the Breakingstone AC blog. We hope to use this to keep everyone informed and up to date with results, forthcoming matches, venue rules etc, etc.

To start with i have added the venue lists for the Winter, Spring and Summer leagues (some still TBC) use the tabs at the top of the page to access these, where applicable, clicking on the venue name will take you to their website)
